I simply will NOT drink shit coffee. Percolation is not it. It's not even close to good. In fact, it's one of the worst ways possible to prepare coffee. Traditional pour-over was modernized with the drip coffee maker. If you do not do an "old-fashioned" pour over, then simply spend the money, and get the best drip coffeemaker you can find.

There are a good number of "boutique" drip coffeemakers available, most are shit. They are overpriced, stupidly engineered trash. So are the more common names -- Cuisinart. I'm not going to recommend any of them, but I will suggest the Bunn. If you can find one, the B You can fuck up almost everything else and still get a very nice cup, if the brew temperature is correct.

That aside, we brew with a Technivorm Mochamaster at home, when we don't press. I also have a Ninja that brews well above it's price point, too. In fact, we got them for our kids last year at Christmas. The reason that I no longer use the Bunn is because it keeps the water in the tank HOT all the time, and with the traveling that I do, I don't always remember to turn it off.
